Ms. Blog Countdown to 2011

December 13

In direct contrast and yet implicitly related to"The Yellow Wallpaper," today's feminist treat is a link to experimental writer and artist Shelly Jackson's hypertext autobiography My Body: A Wunderkammer. In it, she delves into the heart of her own adolescence and adulthood, exploring her relationship to her own flesh, blood and muscle and the dynamic space of the body as stage on which life's dreams and disappointments play out.

Jackson is most well-known for her feminist hypertext tale Patchwork Girl, which re-envisions Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for the digital age, and her innovative body art project, Skin, an as-yet-unfinished story being tattooed one word at a time on over two thousand volunteers.
